From 26 to 30 January, two vocational teachers — Andrejs Rubulis and Leonids Krēmers — took part in an Erasmus+ job shadowing mobility.

The visit took place at Kaunas Information Technology School (Kauno informacinių technologijų mokykla) in Lithuania, where over the course of a week both teachers explored international practice in teaching digital design and animation.

During the visit, our teachers took an active part in both theoretical and practical sessions. The programme covered a wide range of topics, from computer graphics drawing techniques and pixel art to the basics of 3D modelling and 2D animation. They also tried out digital storytelling tools, including Canva, where they made a visual piece — a zine — from photographs, and designed their own personal logos.

One thing worth highlighting is the integrated approach their Lithuanian colleagues take to teaching: photography is combined with 3D modelling in a single assignment, encouraging creativity and interdisciplinary thinking in students. It was methods of this kind that caught both teachers' attention most.

Taking part in international projects such as Erasmus+ not only broadened their professional knowledge but also strengthened competences such as communication, adaptability and intercultural cooperation. Travelling together meant our teachers could exchange observations on the spot and discuss new ideas as they came up.

Both teachers plan to bring what they have learned into their everyday work with students.

The mobility was carried out within an EU Erasmus+ Key Action 1 (KA1) vocational education and training sector project (project ID No. 2025-1-LV01-KA121-VET-000336321).
