Communication Design

Assistant Communication Designer

Communication Design is a vocational education programme that prepares specialists in the strategic management of information and in conveying messages to an audience. It combines research into user behaviour, the psychology of perception and creative visual solutions to build effective communication in both digital and analogue media, leading to a Level 4 qualification under the Latvian and European Qualifications Frameworks.

The programme lasts four years. Studies take place on site, after basic education (Year 9). It includes substantial professional work placements and design project work in a real working environment, consolidating skills from the initial idea through to presenting the finished result — more than 560 hours.

The programme begins with an artistic foundation — drawing, composition and painting — developing the ability to use visual means of expression to bring ideas to life. Students learn to research audience needs, analyse competitors' products and develop strong communication messages.

The course covers professional raster and vector graphics software, multimedia tools and 3D modelling. Considerable emphasis is placed on design thinking processes: research, generating ideas, prototyping and testing. Students also study entrepreneurship in the design sector, budget planning and project documentation. Graduates can work as assistant communication designers, contributing to campaign planning, the development of visual identities and the delivery of information design projects.

The annual fee for the 2026/2027 academic year is EUR 3,400 (EUR 340 per month over 10 academic months). The school offers a wide range of discounts.

Communication Design is for real leaders — for those who want to organise projects and events and see themselves working in production. The specialisation combines theoretical study with practical skills. If you want to build advertising campaigns, run public projects or work on communication plans for clients, this is the programme for you.
